A stunning, handpainted cocktail cabinet.  Queen Anne reproduction style, made in the 1960's of solid wood.  In immaculate vintage condition.  Sanded, primed and painted in 'Athenian Black' over 'Oriental Red', this cabinet has a lovely antique texture.  It is finished in black wax to enhance and protect the paintwork.

Utamaro, a leading artist of the Edo period of Japanese art (1603-1868) provided the style inspiration for my geisha and Klimt the design.

The highly patterned kimono are painted in chalk paints, with gold elements provided by a beautiful gold mineral paint.  The whole surface has been waxed to protect the design.

I have decorated the interior of the cabinet with gold leaf koi and fragments of classical calligraphy from the Edo period.  Translations do not exist for these classical characters but translation is not required here as the characters are works of art in their own right!

I love the very particular look of the geisha faces painted by Utamaro.  The faces have gravity and a strong beauty which makes them very distinctive.

Beautiful demi lune vintage cabinet from the 1920's.  Gorgeous walnut veneer with smart black mineral paint trim.  Very chic!

The interior of the cabinet is handpainted with my own Art Deco designs.   I don't use stencils.  Curved glass shelf for glasses and I have fitted a motion sensor light for that extra va va room!
